Admin Restrictions
Admins can push restrictions to check-in devices remotely from the web dashboard. Restrictions take effect immediately on the device without requiring an app update or sign-out.
How Restrictions Work
Restrictions are set from the Team Management section of your web dashboard. When you toggle a restriction, it is delivered to the target device via the messaging system and applied immediately.
Available Restrictions
There are 10 restriction types you can apply to check-in devices.
Guest Management
restrict_addguest - prevents adding new guests on the device. You can set an optional numeric limit to cap how many guests can be added rather than blocking additions entirely.
restrict_changeguestinfo - prevents editing guest information such as name, notes, or tags from the device
Check-In and Check-Out
restrict_checkout - blocks the checkout action, preventing staff from checking guests out
restrict_overrideblock - blocks the ability to override a blocked guest's status, ensuring blocked guests cannot be checked in from the device
Navigation and Access
restrict_filtering - blocks tag filtering on the guest list, preventing staff from filtering by specific tags
restrict_scanneronly - enables scanner-only mode, which hides the guest list navigation. Staff can only check in guests by scanning barcodes.
restrict_stats - hides the statistics tab from the device
restrict_switchevents - prevents switching between events on the device
App Settings and Security
restrict_settings - prevents opening the Settings screen on the device
restrict_signout - requires a password to sign out of the app, preventing unauthorised sign-outs
Applying Restrictions
Open the Team Management section on your web dashboard.
Select the team member or device you want to restrict.
Toggle the desired restrictions on or off.
The restrictions are delivered to the device and applied immediately.
Restrictions are delivered via the messaging system and take effect on the device without any user action required. There is no need to restart the app or re-download event data.
Tip: Use restrict_scanneronly combined with restrict_settings to lock a device down to barcode scanning only, which is ideal for unmanned entry points.
