Simulation Mode
Simulation mode adds an on-screen barcode entry panel that lets you type or paste barcode values directly, without needing a physical barcode or camera. This is useful for testing event data before going live.
Enabling Simulation Mode
Open Settings in the Qflow check-in app.
Toggle Scan simulation tools to the on position.
Return to the Scan screen.
Using the Barcode Entry Panel
When simulation mode is enabled, an input field appears on the scan screen and within the capture camera modal.
Tap the barcode input field on the scan screen.
Type or paste a barcode value.
Submit the value to simulate a scan.
The app processes the barcode as if it were scanned by a camera or hardware scanner.
Where Simulation Mode Works
The barcode entry panel is available in two areas of the app:
Standard scan screen - the main scan view used by staff
Self check-in kiosk mode - the full-screen self-service check-in view
Tip: Use simulation mode to verify that your imported guest barcodes resolve correctly before event day. Test a sample of barcodes from your guest list to confirm they produce the expected check-in results.
Important: Disable simulation mode before going live to prevent manual barcode entry during the event.
