The app has been rebuilt from the ground up for faster load times, smoother scanning, and improved reliability across all devices. The day-to-day experience stays the same - you sign in, download events, scan guests, and check your stats exactly as before. Your settings are automatically migrated on first launch β no manual setup required.
This version requires Android 11 or later and is fully compliant with Google Play's latest requirements, including 16KB page size support.
What Happens When You Upgrade
When you open Qflow 2.0.0 (7.0.0) for the first time after upgrading, the app detects your previous settings and migrates them automatically. This is a one-time process - your preferences for scanning, guest lists, sounds, and other options carry over without any action on your part.
Removed Settings
A small number of settings from the previous version have been removed because they are no longer needed.
SSL Bypass - modern network handling makes this unnecessary
Torch - the flashlight is now controlled directly from the scan screen
Location - replaced by tag on scan, which assigns a tag to guests as they are scanned
If you had any of these enabled, they are silently skipped during migration.
Renamed Settings
Two settings have been renamed for clarity. Their behaviour is unchanged.
Hide All Attendees is now Hide Barcoded Guests - hides guests who already have a barcode assigned
Detect Unfiltered is now Detect Unfiltered Guests - alerts you when a scanned guest is outside your current tag filter
New Settings
Qflow 2.0.0 (7.0.0) introduces several new settings. All are disabled by default unless noted.
Scanning
Color Background - the entire scan screen changes colour to show the check-in result (green, red, or amber), visible from a distance
Auto Reset - the scan page automatically clears after 5 seconds and resets for the next guest (enabled by default)
Aim Mode - when multiple barcodes are visible on screen, tap the one you want to scan instead of the app picking the first one it detects
Print on Scan - automatically sends a print job to a connected Zebra printer after each successful scan
Guest Lists
Check-In Button Position - choose whether the check-in button appears at the top or bottom of the guest detail view
Full Width Tags - displays tag labels at full width instead of compact pills
Self-Service (Coming Soon)
Facial Recognition - enables camera-based guest identification for self-service check-in
Liveness Detection - requires the guest to blink during facial recognition to prevent photo spoofing
Other
NFC Scan Mode - NFC scanning works automatically on Android devices. On iOS, this setting must be enabled before NFC tags can be read.
New Features
Beyond settings, Qflow 2.0.0 (7.0.0) includes several new capabilities.
Split-screen continuous scan - in continuous scan mode, scan results now appear in a slide-up panel over the live camera feed. You see the guest's status, tags, and notes without leaving the scanner, and the camera stays active for the next scan.
Tag tree filters - filter your guest list using a hierarchical tag tree with expandable categories and tri-state checkboxes. Selecting a parent tag automatically selects all children, and partially selected parents are clearly indicated.
Guest list search and status filters - quickly filter the guest list by status (All, Checked In, or Outstanding) using quick-filter buttons, and search guests by name with real-time results
Filter page with search - a dedicated filter page lets you search, toggle, and bulk-select tags. Active and inactive filters are grouped separately so you can see what is applied at a glance.
Multiple chart types - the Stats tab now supports bar, doughnut, and pie charts. Switch between chart types to view your attendance data the way you prefer.
Assign barcode or NFC media - scan a barcode or tap an NFC tag to assign it directly to a guest from the guest detail screen, linking the media to that guest for future check-ins
Zebra printer support - connect to Zebra WiFi thermal printers for badge and label printing directly from the app
Improved self-service check-in - guests can scan their own barcode to check themselves in without staff assistance. Facial recognition with anti-spoofing liveness detection is coming soon.
Dark mode - the app follows your device's light or dark theme setting
Multi-language support - the app is available in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Simplified Chinese
Admin messages - account admins can send messages to devices, including remote sign-out and cache clear commands
Custom fields - view event-specific custom fields on the guest profile (coming soon)
Tag on check-in - automatically apply a selected tag to guests as they are scanned
Print badge from profile - print a badge for a specific guest on demand from their profile screen
In-app help - access help articles directly from within the app without switching to a browser
Visual Changes
The whole app has a fresh new look. The layout and navigation remain the same β five tabs across the bottom for Scan, Guest List, Stats, Messages, and Settings β but every screen has been redesigned.
Settings layout - settings are now grouped into categories (Scanning, Guest Lists, Checkout and Print, Self-Service, and so on) instead of a flat list
Charts - the Stats tab uses updated chart styles with the same attendance data
Sign-in screen - refreshed design
Qflow 2.0.0 (7.0.0) supports full app branding - custom colours, logos, and sign-in screen styling. If you are interested in a branded version of the app, contact us at support@qflowhub.io.
